Revitalizing Toner (Step 2) is important part of a three-step Proactiv Solution System and is recommended to be used along with Renewing Cleanser (Step 1) and Repairing Lotion (Step 3). After a few months of using all three steps together, you may notice no need for a daily make-up at all - the skin becomes much softer, clearer, with less noticeable pores and obtains a natural, even color. However, it is recommended that even after achieving desired results you keep using all three steps twice a day to prevent new blemishes from forming since, according to Dr. Rodan and Dr. Fields, creators of Proactiv Solution product line, "acne is not curable, but preventable." If your skin stops reacting to Proactiv ingredients in one-two years of continuous use, do not panic, but try to discontinue using it for a couple of weeks allowing your skin to rest, and then you are ready to benefit from using the unique Proactiv Solution system again.

Use this Proactiv Solution Revitalizing Toner every day - every morning and evening for best results. Remember that the efficiency secret is to use it twice a day and in combination with Steps 1 & 3. Use it not only on your face, but on any blemish-prone area including chest, back, and buttocks.

Apply some of the Revitalizing Toner on a cotton ball and gently wet your face and body with it. Allow it to dry at least for a minute and apply Repairing Lotion over it with your hands. You do not have to rinse the Toner off.

Revitalizing Toner (Step 2) is designed to nourish and soothe your skin with gentle botanicals after exfoliation and before applying the acne treatment medication. It also clears up your skin by removing some excess oil from the pores and slightly disinfecting them, so Repairing Lotion (Step 3) could penetrate deep into the pore and fight acne-causing bacteria with as few obstacles as possible.

You may wear oil-free make-up after Revitalizing Toner (Step 2) has dried off. Or, use oil-free make-up over Repairing Lotion (Step 3) to let the medication work on problem skin while you are taking care of your day and looking your best. Some people may prefer to complete all three steps early in the morning or in the afternoon, keep the medication (Step 3) on for at least 20-30 minutes and wash everything off right before heading to work or applying make-up. Remember to use all three steps again before going to sleep, but try do not wash it off until the morning - it is the best time for medication to penetrate deep into the skin and fight bacteria especially because skin produces less oil while you are sleeping and is more relaxed and responsive to topical remedies.

Avoid using the Toner on sensitive areas around your eyes and on your lips. Apply moisturizer there instead. For sensitive skin, try to use the Toner only on spots affected by blemishes to avoid irritation until your skin starts to heal and feel comfortable with the Revitalizing Toner left on.

Some people may experience slight burning on acne-prone areas after application of Revitalizing Toner. Others specifically use this quality to disinfect painful, forming pimples and minimize possibility of scars since Revitalizing Toner has a powerful yet gentle alcohol-free formula. Revitalizing Toner may feel especially painful on damaged areas like scratches, tiny wounds, blemishes, or even mosquito bites. For the first few weeks, if feeling slight burning after application of Revitalizing Toner, do not try to bear it, just wash it off with warm water, pet the skin dry and gently apply Repairing Lotion.

For sensitive skin, oil-free moisturizer over Toner is highly recommended - before applying Repairing Lotion (Step 3) or after. Usually, burning or itching feeling will go away as soon as blemishes start to heal. However, if irritation and redness persist even after washing the Toner off, stop using it at all, apply oil-free moisturizer to calm the skin, skip the Step 3 (Repairing Lotion) and consult the doctor.

Apply a good quality sunscreen (with SPF 15 or higher) on your face, neck, and other parts of your body exposed to the sun before going outside. Reapply sunscreen after swimming.

Remember to get a lot of fresh air, fresh fruits and vegetables, and good night sleep. Put yourself in a good mood every day and smile a lot because acne often comes as a result of a very stressful lifestyle.
